Hey everyone,
I'm looking to replace the fan belt in my 2005 E450 6.0 diesel. It looks kinda hard to get to from the top. Is this belt done from the bottom?
Also, do you guys prefer Motorcraft belts?
Just looking for some insights on this. Thanks in advance.
The ideler pulley under the alternator is part of the belt tensioner, there is a clip built into the bottom of it closest to the fan.If you pull up on the belt and lock the clip the tensioner stays there until you pull up the belt again. It helps to have two people one on the belt and one to lock the clip. Also the shroud has a piece on it in front of the alternator that is removeable to gain easier access to the belt.
