Last Saturday while I was out in the boat some IDIOT did this to my truck.
You would think that whoever this IDIOT was would have stopped at first contact. This IDIOT just kept on going. It ran from the front of the fender
to the back of the cab. I guess the IDIOT finally decided to steer away. The fact it didn't run all the way to the end of the bed was probably just luck.
Here's a closeup of whatever it is. Something plastic I guess.
To say the least I was pretty ticked off. Of course there was no note. I looked at all the trucks and trailers in the lot but couldn't find a suspect.
Fortunately it all rubbed out and there was not a crease. The dark area is just a reflection.
This ding in the wheel well trim is not going to rub out. The only lasting damage.
I suspect this was caused by ignorance or booze or both.
What pizzes me off more than anything is that they just drove off.
Oh, did I mention that the one who did this is an IDIOT.
I waited this long to post because if I had posted any sooner the post would have consisted of nothing but ******* ***** ******* *****!.
Sorry to hear about that Robin. No need to wait so long to post next time. As long as you post pictures like that we'll understand what your saying even if all we see is 20 lines of ***** **** ******** ********.
So do you plan on taking a trip to the lake this weekend to cruise the parking lot looking for the trailer with a scratched yellow piece? The police won't be able to do much since they don't seem as efficient as the folks on that CSI show, but maybe a little talk with the cops will prevent them from doing this to someone else in the future. That is unless they're dumb enough to jump in the truck trunk to get the boat. The boys in blue don't take to kindly to drunken driving.
The good news is that it was just plastic that buffed out. I had a 99 where I had similar damage across the front fender, and it happened when I was sitting in the vehicle. It took 6 months of dealing with Geico to get them to pay for the repairs.
Robin.....that REALLY sucks that happened, but at least it's only a minor ding that is still left afterwards. I wouldn't waste any time or energy trying to catch whoever did it. Nothing can be proved, and if I was you......I'd just move on, it's not worth the stress or negativity. They'll get theirs.....KARMA is a mother*u**er!
Robin, glad you got that out. low lifes...Had a car 8 years ago, parked it in the parking lot and went in to work. Went out to my car after work and there was a note that said to go see security inside, the guy left his cell no# with the guard and told him he hit this car in the grill area. The guy was on tough times and told him i'll get some prices on parts and do it myself to give him a break. Even though i was a little ticked, He paid me and i thanked him for being honest. Sorry for the long post, just had to tell....
Wow, Robin, I can know how you must have felt. I worry about mine everytime I am on the lake, and that is quite a bit. I remember a couple of years ago, after a long day on the lake, I was walking up through the lot to my truck and noticed glass beside almost every vehicle in the lot. Almost sick on my stomach walking past all those broken door windows, when I saw mine was one of only a few that was untouched. My fishing parter wasn't as lucky. Azzholes broke both passenger and drivers windows out for 2 cds and 3 quarters.
Glad you were able fix most of the damages. Looks like it may have come from the rub rail off of an older boat. Some of those used the wide rubbery strip down the side. I used to try to park as far from the crowd as possible, not now. I look for the newest rigs out there and park beside them, hopefully between two of them.
Robin if I was you I would go back to the dock the next few weekends and look to see if you find a trailer matching that color and see if the damage matches.
considering it was plastic residue and didn't hit hard enough to dent the paint, they honestly may not have noticed. Not that this excuses their actions. I've seen it where people just don't realize thing, and it was a real hit. Just wish people will be more careful.
Not that it matters now, but after looking at the pictures again and the height of the marks, I think it probably come for a loading guide post on the trailer. Some have the rollers mounted on guides for loading post to guide the boat on and they stick out past the fenders. Most are flexible and the driver probably may not have even felt the impact. I'm sure he didn't care either.
