harley dude, do up your gallery. i have (some) trim for 39,40,41, might have your piece. i just don't know what piece is correct for your needs. pictures, pictures, pictures!
thanks for looking. the grill looks better in the pic.than it is. lots of small dents. the center is not original. the truck is apart for a frame off resto.
thanks guys. had taken this to a metal resto shop. he said he could restore and polish.would only work by the hour and would take about a week. would not give a rate per hour. nice. i brought it home
Hey Harley Dude--really like your truck. I guess I haven't seen all that many 38's in such good condition. Maybe I've never seen one. I guess I don't go to all that many "stocker" shows, and I've always thought this particular year wasn't too good looking, but yours is great. Good luck finding that grill piece, I know a guy here in Napa county that has a 38 project truck that has been languishing for decades(its pretty much a big pile of parts), and I'm thinking he might have something. If he's interested I'll get back to ya.
thanks for the look. the 38 and 39 were the ugly trucks but they grow on you. guy had this in his garage for 18 years. had been a poor restro years ago. looks better than it is. now down to the bare frame will be stock except for the engine . 8ba, isky max 1, offy heads and manifold, reds headers. the grill is not bad. just a few bumps. nobody makes a repro yet. take care.
thanks for the info. the 38 grill uses the v8 emblem on the top. i think carpenter also ma kes these. the 39 had one strip up the middle. there is a guy coming to the hershey show that makes these by hand. again thanks
