Interior water leakage
Well I was leaving work the other morning after a pretty bad rain storm that lasted all night, and as I pulled out of my spot a whole rush of water came down and poured out the back of my headliner and onto my rear seats. My F150 is an 06' and has absoutly no rust on the roof and no problems with the weather stripping along the doors. Was wondering if anyone has ever had this problem and if so where they pin pointed out the problem. thanks

I just recently had the same problem.I took it to my local Ford dealer and they said it was the 3rd brake light gasket. They sub out this kind of work and the guy that fixed it said the gasket gets weathered and shrinks, causing water to leak.He installed a new and better gasket and also sealed where the wire comes thru the cab for the light sockets.

I've been having the same problems with mine. Im on the 2nd third brake light and 2nd body seal that goes down the side of the trucks at the roof line when the body bends and turns to the rear window. (Does that make sense?) They told me they have improved the gasket when It was replaced under warranty the other day and now has a thicker gasket. As far as the body seal, they had to use alot of silicone, and replaced it. They seam to start coming up when they get hot. If you can push down on them and they move, they might cause a leak. At least thats what happened to mine.

I had the same problem with my 04 f150. I have a powered rear sliding window, but the leak was coming from the third light, I took it in, they replaced the gasket and the light. it still leaked, so I sealed it myself with siliocne gel, waited for it to dry and painted over it, hasn't leaked since

Well took the light off and of course the factory black seal was half on there and half in the light peeled off so no wonder the water was coming in, so I bought some automotive grade silicone sealer and put on a thick bead of the stuff, let it dry over night and reinstalled it. I live in Florida and did it just in time, before tropical storm Fay, we had tons of rain the last few days, not a drop has leaked in yet so I guess the problem is solved, so far...

guys don't use silicone!!! That stuff will eat paint and cause rust! When ever you take the light assy off again to change the bulbs PAINT WILL come with it! Please don't ever put silicone on a painted surface. If you don't believe me ask your local paint and body shop. Ford did have a problem with the seals. You can't get just the seal from Ford you have to get a new light assy.

I finally checked the gasket on my 3rd brake light and found the gasket on the top side to be mis-positioned. I assume it came from the factory that way and then with a little shrinkage it began to leak some after a couple of years. I was able to pry the gasket up in the area of the leak and press it back down in the right spot. It was still tacky enough. I've washed the truck twice and had some rain since and no leak.
