Fuel pump rebuild kit?
My fuel pumnp went out on my truck tonight. It is one of the old glass bowl ones. I cannot find a rebuild kit in any of my catalogs. Does anyone know where I can get a kit?
I stuck a later model fuel pump on it (chinese made) to get it home, but it cracked when putting the fitting in. It leaks pretty bad and I do not want to blow more money buying another one just like it.
Thanks all,
Brian
Oh..it is a 56 F-100 with a 272 Y-block.

I guess it was time for it. Glad it didn't happen over in Oklahoma a couple of weeks ago.
Green sales does not have it. Dennis carpenter, mid-fifty, sac vintage, etc. all list the later model one for my truck. I have two books that show that the glass bowl one is the original.
I looked at concourse parts as well. They also show the later model fuel pump for mine. Maybe I am not looking in the right place. Probably need to look under t-bird or something.
I will check with NAPA tomorrow...err...umm...later today.
One was used on F500 and larger trucks only.
The correct original Ford part number for the kit you need is B8A-9349-C.
I searched all the obsolete Ford parts sellers websites, no one has any.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
The original fuel pump part number was B6C-9350-A. No one has that either.
B6C-9350-A was later replaced by B8C-9350-A > > replaced by B9TE-9350-A > > replaced by C3TZ9350B (whew!).
I found a bunch of C3TZ9350B's NOS.
I suggest you call and make sure you get the type with the glass bowl. I dunno if this replacement fuel pump has one or not.
C3TZ9350B
Green Sales in Cincinnati OH has 9: 800-543-4959
Wesley Obsolete Parts in Liberty KY has one: 606-787-5293
McDonalds Obsolete Parts in Rockport IN has 4: 812-359-4965
EDIT: Dennis Carpenter's 1948/56 catalog (page 42) shows a new fuel pump WITHOUT the glass bowl for $60.00
btw: That glass bowl on your fuel pump is there to house the ceramic fuel filter.
btw, part II: I'd be wary of buying a fuel pump repair kit...it may have lain on a shelf for years and the gaskets will all be dried out/brittle by now.
B6C 9350-A is what I got out of it for the original part number. I never tried to use this book before.

Since the numbers were replaced twice...that explains why I could not find one anywhere.
Thanks for the assistance Bill.
EDIT ONE: I just found out last night from the parts book it has a filter in there. I was not aware that it was ceramic. I have not taken it apart yet. Good point on the kit. I doubt I will find one of those anyway. Looks like I can get a new pump (and keep the old one on a shelf).

Since the numbers were replaced twice (three times-B6C-9350-A TO = B8C-9350-A / B9TE-9350-A / C3TZ-9350-B)...that explains why I could not find one anywhere.
Thanks for the assistance Bill.

I like this book Cal gave me. It is a 56-57 (printed February 57) fomoko Chassis parts and accessories catalog.
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
Over the years, Ford changed many of the part numbers, they even changed some of the basic part numbers, like U-joints from 7039 to 4635.
The 1948/56 Ford Truck Parts Catalog (printed in 1964) is a combination of all the previous catalogs, and is available on a CD from hipoparts.com.
It's somewhat better. Still...many of those part numbers in that catalog have been replaced.
To run down that "new" fuel pump number...I used the '48/56 catalog, then the Ford OSI (Obsolete-Supercede-Interchange) catalog I have on microfiche that covers 1940 thru 1992.
One can never have enough reference books on FTE. I also have the means to search every Ford obsolete parts sellers website, and every Ford dealers inventory in the US.
I will eventually buy more reference material, but it costs $$$ that I do not have. Medical bills are a royal pain in the rear end.
I will live with the free one for now.

CCs are good for when a vehicle breaks. Otherwise I try not to use them.
Thanks again,

B8A-9350-F replaced by B9A-9350-B / No one shows either one.

I checked at NAPA just for grins. Nope. All of the parts stores can get the ones without the glass bowls. I even found one online somewhere (forgot where) with a dual diaphragm for running the vacuum wipers.
I certainly do not need that. The vacuum reservoir takes care of the power brake booster and the vacuum wipers just fine. Don't worry, it is all hidden and could be easily removed, if someone wants to down the road.
I sent E-mail messages (can't hear) to the three you posted Bill. Wesley's bounced back immediately. Oh well...Still sent them to two of them.

Thanks for the assistance again. I will let you know what I find out.
