do all tailgates have a pneumatic hinge?
Hi all, a die hard 7.3 driver here.
I'd love a 6.4 some day, but after a few years of updates and updates
I was lucky enough to get a 2008 tailgate and put er in today but it just flops down. I thought all 2008's have a slow drop to them. Maybe this one wasn't functioning and why it was for sale. It does not have the ladder option.
I do have the correct hinge replacement so I know it is engaged into the slot correctly,

The Ford has a Torsen spring in the tail gate. Helps alot.
Feels light to lift up and down but is heavy when taking off.

I also bought the EZ DOWN kit for my 2008 F350, that thing is awesome. took ten minutes to install and now I don't have to worry about other people dropping my tailgate....man do I hate that. just wondering why did you put on a 2008 tailgate if it didn't have the step option? Seems to me that besides the logo changes on it there wouldn't be any point.....unless of course your old one was crap. But just my $.02...the tailgate step is a wonderful thing.

My 99 had some bad gouges on the back when the trailer came off the ball.
so i took the 2003 tailgate and put it on the 99, and upgraded mine.
I also have some signal mirrors from a 2008 so with the badges off it has a nice new look without an unproven motor.
