I have been searching sites for a few days now and have not seen much help, I have a 99 F350 dually PSD auto, with 140k also have bully dog 6 position chip- run it on lower settings while working, also have seen tranny approach 220 more often now. tows 5500lbs 5 days a week, pulls fine but has started to feel like the tranny will " fall out of gear" wile driving RPMs rev up, then if you let off the pedal it will be fine for a while, so far it has happened 5 times 2 loaded and 3 empty. Any ideas, i was thing possibly some thing that controls line pressure? any ideas help .
How many times has the fluid or filter been changed? Take a look at the fluid, look for dark brown fluid and metal particles. It could be the filter needs changing, or a bad seal, or an electrical problem with pump.
Does your "chip" adjust line pressure? I've heard of tunes running line pressure so high that it wears out the pump in rather short order. I'd say a pressure test would be in order.
Took it to the tranny shop today and on the way it lost drive for a while put it in 2 and kept going then at stop got drive back and then lost it again but it drove ok for the shop test ride. They told me my motor is telling the torqure converter not to lock
Also pulled codes
P0238- turbo boos sensor A circuit high input,
P1211- Injector control pressure higher or lower than desired
P1249- Waste gate control valve performance
it does have a bully dog chip which may have some thing to do with the codes when turned up but it dose not boost line pressure
control module for torque converter lock up cycling on of rapidly
also some slip present when at 100% lock up
any ideas? where to look first ?
Not really, but data logging would be where I would start. I could see how any of those codes could unlock your T/C. Slip during lockup isn't a good thing.
