I have a 92 f-150 with a 302 in it. I have another that has the 300 inline 6 in it to be used as a parts truck. My question is will the transmissions interchange in these trucks? My tranny is going out in my truck with the 302 in it. Or can I change out the engine and tranny from my other truck. Will it match up?
The trannys are physically interchangable.. both motors use the same bolt pattern, beyond that more information is needed to say if they are completely compatable.
I will check tonight to see if they have the same numbers on the tranny. I really was just wondering if the hole paterns were the same. I thank you for your input.
Posting part numbers off the tranny case won't help.
Are these automatics? manuals? To make it easier, post the code under TRANS on the door sticker on each vehicle. That will tell us exactly what tranny is in each truck.
There may be computer issues if you have an electronic tranny. If that's the case, then you'd need a new computer as the computers for the two different motors aren't compatible either. It can get a little complicated.
to change motors u have to change frame mounts, comp, and exhast but as long as there both sticks or autos the tranys are interchangeable they used the same tranys as long as same brad but if not still will work i put a 4 speed out of 83 f150 with a 4.9 in a 91 f 250 that had a 5 speed in it olny had to change drive lines a move cross member but the holes where there so it will work im sure
