92 F-150 302 to 351W Swap
I know this article has been beat to death on how to swap a 351w into a 302 fuel injected vehicle, but I have a few concerns that I would like to ask? First off, I just installed some ceramic shorty headers on my 302EFI motor and was wondering when I swap over to the 351w motor will they bolt up to the 5.8 engine with no problems? Another thing, will I need a different flexplate so I can bolt a 351w up to my 92 E4OD tranny? Basically I have a 1992 Ford F-150 302 EFI 4x4 truck with the 4 speed auto E4OD tranny and want to get rid of my gutless 302, it's tired and ready to be put out of commission...
I would love to see a list of stuff that is extra besides just dropping in the motor? I ask that because surely there is more to just dropping the engine in and running it right?

The headers will physically bolt to the engine, but there isn't a provision for EGR on the passenger side header of the 302. The y-pipe will need to be modified to accomodate the wider and taller 351.
Ford put the 351 with the E4OD, so just get a flexplate out of any 351 with the E4OD around your year truck. You'll really want to get a 351 computer too, but since you have the E4OD, that should be a walk in the park. The wiring will hook right up to the 351 and the 351 computer matches the 302 wiring, so all that is just plug and play.
You probably already know this, but the intake manifold must be for a 351 as well as the distributor. Any 351 distributor from a 92-95 (maybe 96 too?) should work fine with the wiring already in your truck.
