My reverse lights are not working. I replaced the bulbs and to no avail. My passenger side rear tailight won't light up with the headlights on, but will when i press down on the brake with the headlights off. WHAT IS WITH THIS!!!! It's a 79 F250 by the way. Any help would be appreciated.
The fuse box on a 79 is on the inside firewall near the left vent.
The neutral safety switch/backup switch are incorporated and attached to the side of the tranny.
You can do the 12V jumper wire to the harness to bypass theswitch to see if the lights come on.

I just moved to Vancouver, BC from Tucson, AZ. I've got a '79 Bronco Ranger XLT and I've rebuilt the whole thing except for the transfer case and transmission. In order to pass inspection in this province (reqd. to get insurance), I need to ensure that all of my lights are in working order. To my knowledge, I've never seen my reverse lights work. I know there's good bulbs in there and I'm pretty sure the truck doesn't start when the trans is set to Drive.
Is the reverse light switch a separate unit from the neutral safety switch, or is it integral to it? What else might I look at to solve this problem? Any ideas are appreciated.
