Talking 6637 Filter ?

Just got my Kwik filter today. What length 4" pipe do I need for the connection? Looks like a monster...
Thanks for the info.

If I tell you that no pipe is needed unless it's going on an early 99 all I will do is start another argument. So I will not do that, you can figure it all by yourself.

Think I could get some info on that without starting a agrument? I hadnt heard about that. What can you get the hose over the end of the filter?

Sometimes, or if you use a little heat you can. The argument comes from the fact that some of us worry about the rubber hose coming off the filter when yo don't want it to, versus the piece of pipe there is basically no way for the filter to come off until you want it to.
For length I would use the CCV coupler as a template and cut to the same length.

I just cleaned the oil residue off of the existing rubber boot and clamped it directly to the 6637. It's been there ever since without a problem. I did have to remove the old air box and tie the intake air sensor up near the filter. The whole thing took less than 15 minutes (2000 7.3).

The only time I've needed heat is when changing filters in the winter. Mine looks nice and clean, has never slipped even one iota and has been to Alaska and back with absolutely no problems at all. It makes for a whole neater looking installation. I will post a photo if anyone wants to see it. Barry has no pipe on his either and he's been using his longer than I have mine.

It's just another one of those "to each his own" deals. Myself I don't think using an adapter pipe looks any less clean or professional than slipping the stock hose over the filter.

There were several posted in another thread overnight, both with and without adapters, but I will still put one here in a little while.
