i'm confused, the ebp isnt used for anything with fueling. does dp tuner use the input for something? and if so then what is it?

cOOn, in post #7 he said his EGT's were outta sight. That's what told me the EBPV was closed. If you have tons of fuel, but no way to get it out of the turbo, the egt's skyrocket. When I did my first injectors I left the map off. I had no boost or power, but the egts were low. The only way I figure you could replicate what I felt was either the map line, a bag over the air filter (Tims favorite), or close the ebpv. We'll see if I was right, or not. I hope so, but thats how I was thinking about the problem at any rate.

only prob is that if the line is plugged then the pcm sets the codes, as soon as the code is set the pcm will not command any ebpv functions. as long as any p0470-78 code exists the butterfly wont move.

well i take that back, the pcm will not command it to close. if it has a mechanical malfunction then thats another story. i could see that causing the problem but the plugged ebp tube cant cause the butterfly to close.

Hey guys. First off, nice thread. Thank you. Okay so now my situation is really similer to this. In the last few weeks I put in....Stage two injectors, new glow plugs, autometer three pod gages, a new 17* hpop, A d66 turbo, DP tuner and new up pipes. I can black entire neighborhoods with the smoke but I have unreal EGTS and at most 15-17PSI boost. I can barely run the truck alone at interstate speeds with out exceeding 1200 degrees. It sucks. While towing my 5000# trailor its rediculous!! I am wondering if I went to far. I have alll of the components to install a 6.0 intercooler and that will be next on my list but I think my boost is way to low from the fuel Im providingi and what Im reading on here. I drive by the Pyro every time I go anywhere and it sucks!! Is my EBPV in the same place as discussed in this thread? Im open to any and all suggestions.

Thanks in advance to all. May you all be the next american bachelor.

Reek

Well, the "EGR" as ford would call it was definately plugged off. I got that all cleaned out, but I still have the same issue.

I manage to do our trip hauling on my high altitude setting, keeping my meth inj wide open almost constant, and sticking to driving at night.

I still cant get more then 9lbs boost hauling, or 15lbs empty, and the EGTs still rocket.

I do think I found the problem, I just havnt been able to tighten stuff down.

During cold start, the usual smoke actually blows a waft of it from up behind the turbo.

I tried tightening my up pipes, but all I had was roadside/trail tools, so I couldnt get at the bottom ones.

Thats one thing I would try on yours Reek. Have someone cold start your rig while you watch under the hood. If you get a puff of smoke, there is your leak.

I'll report back after I get things tightened up. The doughnuts and up pipes are both less then 2 years, and 20k miles old. Hopefully they dont need replacing.
