I'm messing around with the idea of painting my stock bullet hole wheels black. I'm getting some new mud terrain tires this weekend and am ready for a different look w/o dropping 700-1000 on new wheels. I've got a bunch of other black stuff (toolbox, grill guard, etc) so i thought it might look ok. ideas/thoughts?

I have never been a fan of black out rims myself, but my neighbor did it to his gasser this winter and it looks pretty sweet. I am sure he wouldn't mind if I snapped some pictures. USE REAL PAINT not rattle cans and you will be very happy with the results.
If I were me, I would paint just the rims and leave the center caps chrome. There are two Jeep Cherokees in town that are running like that and they look sweet.
I would also recommend buying my black 08 rear bumper. It would be the perfect addition
I would imagine the stock mags would need some prep work to get any paint to stick (sanding). I think it would be easier and cheaper long-term to buy black rims.
I'm with you Scott, not a fan of all black rims. But lately I've seen a few that are black with some polished mixed in that I thought were sweet looking.
You will need to sand the stock bullet holes, and then prime with Zinc Chromate aluminum primer. after that a good shot of black epoxy paint will stick. If you skip the priming step, it will flake off within a week.
any idears on a type of temporary paint that i could use just to see what it looks like and then wipe it off and do it right if it looks good?
WalMart flat black rattle cans with NO prep work.
I bet if you hit it with the pressure washer after that it would flake off in a hurry!!! Then again...since you want the stuff to come off it wouldn't...
