Well the ABS light is on again. I just replaced the speed sensor on the rear end a few months ago and one hundred dollars lighter. Also i just replaced the transmission due to complete failure all the sensors ( transmission speed sensor is new). Although the yellow light and bright ABS light looks really nice on the dash, i perfer no lights, unless it my porch. The light comes on randomly and always do not come on. What the problem? Is my sensor gone south again or is there a possible short in the plug or wiring. Does anyone have any idea or have had the same problem?
That is weird. Most of the time when the light comes on, it'll have a code in the memory. Have you tried to pull the code(s) while the light is on?
Just for S & G's, you may want to try the trick I used to do on Fords & Lincolns between 95-99. the problem was corrosion inside the ABS connectors. Disconnect each sensor and spray some electrical contact cleaner or brake cleaner and blow dry with compressed air. Then inject dielectric grease inside of the connector. Enough where it oozes out when the 2 connectors are reconnected. This forms a barrier for moisture.
Who knows, it may not help but sure would be great if it did!
if the light is coming on there is a code. most your scanners will not pull abs or srs codes. just powertrain codes. i have a snap on solus scanner that does it but i am sure you don't want to drop 4grand on a scanner. you will need to take it somewhere to get the code.
I've read that a bad wheel bearing can cause the ABS light to come on due to misalignment. You would think a 05 bearings should be in good shape but its worth checking.

My 05 has done this twice and there was no code as per 2 dealers.
No, not either time. It came on while running and went out some time after.
Thats what I thought. Its been "my experience" that sometimes the codes need to be pulled while the light is on.
Keep in mind that if you take your vehicle to the dealer and the light is NOT on and they can't pull any codes, they're really not suppose to do anything. Thats the reason for "no problem found" on the ticket. If you bring it in WITH the light on, theres no disputing theres a problem.
You might check with ModuleMaster . There does not show to be a selection for the Super Duty but there is for the Excursion.
I found this when the ABS and Brake light came on my wifes's Yukon. Shop want $1500 for a new ABS module and Pump. I took the module off and sent it to Module Master and they rebuilt it for about $200 total with freight. They warrant it for 5 years. Also did a friends 99 GMC with the same results.
I know this is a very common problem with the GM trucks but am not sure about what the Ford uses as far as ABS components. All I know is that my 2003 SD 6.0 has not had brakes on it since new and has not had any ABS problems - 162k miles!
When my hub bearing went out, the bearings got real hot and started to melt the ABS sensor on the hub. This caused the ABS light to come on and off several times before hub blew out.
