Guages!!! well that woud be the right thing to do but I had Intake, Exhaust and Tunes first but you have to be able to watch everything when you start modding.

i think if you have a bone stock truck then the first mod should be the air filter.
my reasoning is because the stock airbox allows so much dirt to get past that in order to prolong the life of your motor you need to change it. also in a close second is the removal of the orange intake boot. after those 2 things then do the downpipe and exhaust.

X2 on the boot question...
i would say (and i did) gauges first. that way you get to know your truck a little better and see what's going on. also they're needed for future mods to be seen instead of just felt

the orange intake boot is easily replaced with the superduty boot, you also have to get rid of your aluminum 45 degree crankcase vent adapter and use the straight one off the superduty, or just eliminate it all together and do the ccv mod at the same time.

this is not the best picture, actualy its a really old one of under my hood, but you can see the superduty black intake at the turbo and the black ccv adapter.

Ok, so why does it need to be replaced?

this gave you a better idea:

you also can use this as a direct replacement:
Ford Powerstroke: Intake Hoses, IntakeTubing, and Intake Clamps
and read this link:
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/6...fuel-leak.html
BTW the first mod you shoud do is mod your walet

Bad quality, tends to colaps and can get a little hole in it.

I think you are refering to the intercooler pipes.

Those are intercooler pipes, they go to the intercooler which was stock on SD's but not OBS trucks.
My first mod was 6637 intake w/ CCV mod, then 4" exhaust, then gauges. In with the good air, out with the bad air, then monitor your truck better. Once those are done you are set up pretty good for other mods (chip, injectors, big oil, etc etc.)
