He was not proked at all. He got on the bus at Brandon and sat in the back next to the victim who was already asleep when he got on the bus. Porage is what 1/2 a hour from Brandon.

I will tell the truth when I say I woulda got my butt off the bus by the time you get to the action there would prob be little of a hope of saving the kid of iminet death, sure if it were someone I knew then yes. But if you're the only one headin to defend against the attacker you'd have the same chances of a Jew goin to Auschwitz.

with them being at the back of the bus it would have been hard to help the guy...lob a fire extinguisher at him or something. buses usually have an axe on board under the middle seat. yeah i know what you're saying Ryan, its hard to say what we'd each have done in that situation. like i said, i'd like to think that i'd have tried to help...

They did try to help-they got everyone else off the bus thereby preventing any more tragedies. Who knows who else he had in mind-all of them? Just remember, he was originally sitting at the front of the bus. Imagine what would have happened then.

Poor guy-he lived just a few streets over from us here in Charleswood. I know most of his friends as they all went to the same high school I work at.

You're right. I have read/heard that when it took place, those closest took a look and within that very brief time the victim appeared to be beyond help. Those in the back, alerted the bus driver and got all 37 people or so to safety.

The perpetrator was locked in the bus and kept at bay, by a male passenger, the driver and a truck driver who had stopped. The truck driver provided tools (tire irons ?) from his highway tractor, to the other two to enable them to brandish them at the perpetrator to keep him on the locked bus and not to try to smash his way out.

The perpetrator tried to drive the bus, but the driver had gone to the engine (rear-it is a diesel pusher) and disabled the engine.

This all took place out in the middle of the prairie, so the police got there quickly, but because of the distance it still took 10 minutes.

It was a terrible tragedy, that could not of been predicted. It was a horrendous incident, but as Mrs. Bouts has indicated, it could of been worse, if the perpetrator had been at the front of the bus, where he had sat for the first half hour, after getting on the bus, around Brandon.

It is a very difficult time for the family, friends and neighbours of the deceased. My sympathies go out to them.

Les

it definately could have been much worse, and with the guy sleeping, he likely couldn't have been saved anyway. had he been at the front of the bus it could have been the driver... then what?? definately a tradgedy, but it could have been worse.

Naw, death is to fast and painless with the death penalty. What needs to happen, is he needs to go through a FAIR trial, then if, or in this case when, found guilty, the family of the poor kid gets to decide what happens.

Thats justice.

Death is to fast and painless with the death penalty but the many years of wait on death row while hoping for a stay of execution isn`t, there`s lots of time to for him to think about his fate!

Yeah lots of time for him to think, and eat, and live off of our tax dollars, for free!

Not the solution for me. I think the family would pick something swift, and very fair, all while saving us money.

i say turn him loose in a room with the victims family members, but first cut off his hands. give the family members sharp sticks and rusty nails but tell them they can't kill him for 6 hours... now there's justice...

There seems to be some connection between the woman thekiller was sitting with in the front of the bus and had shared a cigarette with before this all happened and the young man. She was a coworker at the same carnivals as he was and they knew each other. The family is desparate to to talk to her but she has already left and gone back to B.C.

Dear God-I certainly hope that poor family isn;t reading or listening to any of this. It's awful enough their child is gone but to have to see, listen and read tha thorrible gore as well!
