I have a 1965 F-100 with a 1968 390 in it and I am converting from the old distributor to an electronic system. I have purchased a distributor and ignition box and coil for a 1975 390. I need a lot of help with the wiring.
The distributor has an orange, purple, and black wires coming out of it. The ignition box has white, blue, red, green, black w/green stripe, light orange, light purple.
I have a 73 Ranchero with a 351C and I want to convert from the old points distributor to an electronic system. What should I get and how do I wire it up. Thanks you guys for you help. Joe
1. keep your points system, but use it to trigger a MSD 6A box.
2. Keep your dist and buy a pertronix kit and install it inside the dist.
3. Buy a used or rebuilt dist for a 1975 and up 351m or 400, or 460, that used the Ford duraspark II system. Get the harness and the box from the junkyard, and re-wire.
