Makes perfect sense. The wire inside the steering column has chaffed and is shorting out. Pull apart the steering column and find the culprit.

In stock tunes, the trans shift does slip much more than any of the other tunes Jody programmed for you. So that isn't surprising. However, if it starts to slip on one of your other settings, then you've got a problem. As for the firmness of the shift, that could be an issue, or it could just be that you got used to it over time.
Sounds like you have a short in the steering column somewhere. It is a fairly common issue. Do a search and I'm sure you'll find the particulars on it.
I'm sure someone will chime in that's fixed that problem.
