Smile Full Traction 4 Link Coilover Suspension

First let me say that I don't work for Full Traction, I'm just a guy that used to have a pick-up that rode rough and now it doesn't.....

My truck is a 1999 Super Duty Crew Long Bed Diesel and it had a regular Leaf Sprung Lift Kit, 4". I won't tell you the Manufacturer but lets just say that riding in my truck certainly made you know that you had working Kidneys.

I purchased Full Tractions' Coilover, 4 Link Suspension and a set of Fox Racing Coilover Shocks all directly from Full Traction. I decided to purchase directly from them due to the fact that I have an early prodution 1999. I spoke with one of the owners and he assured me that it would fit. I really didn't want to work with a third party in case there were any problems.

When it arrived, the instructions were a bit sparce and I really didn't know if I wanted to tackle this install myself or not. Full Traction emailed me a color copy of the install instructions and I was able to blow up all the pictures. I decided that with the help of one friend, I was going to give this a try. Neither of us are mechanics, both very capable weekend warriors though. He took a look at what I had and we decided to give it a try......

The install went very well. There were a few tence moments. One when we had to cut the brackets off for the old sway bar, no turning back now. I will say for the most part that everything bolted right up. There were a couple of things that the early production 1999 had that were a bit different but none were all that bad that we couldn't work around. I did require the help of Full Traction to make a little bit different Track Bar. The bracket for it that was on the differential was smaller than the later trucks. It took a couple of days to work out exactly what we were going to do and then they just made one to fit. They stood behind me all the way. I can't tell you how impressed I am with the company and the people.

Now for the end result.

It's still a 1 TON Truck but the front end has been smoothed out. The steering feels better and those ruts that the big trucks put in the East Coast Freeways aren't like taking a roller coaster ride anymore. I probably should have replaced the steering box while I was in there because it's still a bit loose but that's not the fault of the suspension. I will be installing an Air Ride on the rear of the truck to get the smoother ride and weight carrying capacity. I've been looking at Talon and their kits and if anyone has First Hand Knowledge of them please PM me. I'd love to talk.

My thanks go out to Steve, Orin and Patrick at Full Traction. Good guys that really seem to want their product to be as good as it possibly can and their customers happy.

Thanks Guys for all the help.

I would be willing to post pictures of the finished product if anyone is really interested. I'm not just sure how that is done but I'll try and figure it out if anyone wants to see them. I have the install fairly well documented at least with my notes. Let me know what, if anything, you'd like to see.

Hi,
It's been a long time, 2008, since I did this install and I really can't find the pics I took back then. I will say this, I still have the truck and she's been through H**L and the lift took everything I through at her. I lived in Saskatchewan for almost two years and drove this thing on gravel roads every day. The lift is still great and I would reccomend it to anyone. Unfortunatly I can't tell you much about how Full Traction has stood behind the kit because I've not had to contact them since I did the install. Nothing Broke.... I guess that's the important part. I could take more pics for you but I believe the WEB Site shows it all. PM me if you want me to take some pics. I'd also be willing to share my direct email address and number if you'd like to talk about it.
