Anyone seen any info on this guy--does he have a mental health record? I can see going nuts on the bus and jumping off, but carving up somebody...

Did he have a "Don't blame me, it's PCP" T-shirt on?

More likely to get a conviction for second than first.

The Criminal Code defines murder as the death of someone where the killer meant to cause the death or meant to cause them bodily harm that was likely to result in their death. There are two degrees of murder:

First-degree murder is when the killing is "planned and deliberate". In other words, where the murder was premeditated. However, some killings that aren't premeditated are still automatically first-degree, such as the killing of a police officer or when the killing takes place during the commission of a hijacking, kidnapping or sexual assault. Those convicted of first-degree murder receive an automatic life sentence with no chance of parole for 25 years.

Second-degree murder is defined in the Code as all murders that are not first-degree but where the killing was still intentional. Generally speaking, it applies to those murders that take place in the "heat of the moment" and weren't planned in advance. Like with first-degree, those convicted of second-degree receive an automatic life sentence. However, the judge can set their parole eligibility at anywhere between 10 and 25 years.

Manslaughter is defined in the Code as a culpable homicide that is not murder - in other words, where someone killed someone unintentionally, such as a drunk driver. Someone can also be found guilty of manslaughter instead of murder if the killing was committed in the "heat of passion" as a result of a provocation that would cause an ordinary person to lose their self-control. There is no mandatory minimum sentence for manslaughter but the maximum penalty is life in prison."

luv_mud, thanks for the info.

If and when he's incarcerated, he can feast on his own flesh.

I agree, they are more likely to get a conviction with a second degree charge, but I doubt he will be sent to a correctional facilty. Because of the seeming randomness of the crime he'll more than likely plead "not guilty by reason of mental disorder" and walk after a few years in a hospital. It's not what this scum deserves but it'll more than likely be what he gets.

It may not happen right after his trial and sentencing, but since the crime was so brutal and the accused state of mind seem to be so calm and deliberate. Maybe he may win the "dangerous offender status" and spend the rest of his natural life behind bars. I think nobody wants this guy walking around loose ever again....

I would of been like captain he tried to grab my gun when putting him in the car so had to defend myself by shooting him 40 times.......Would save a place in jail for someone else and save some money for tax payers money from court and everything else just put him out of his misery........

I was watching the news today and found out the killer worked at the Walmart a few blocks from my house about a month ago....small world. Not a lot of info has been released on him personally so far. He was in court to enter a plea, but refused to speak.

I thought I heard/read that the suspect's boss said that he was a model worker;
a fine example of an exemplary worker.

We'll see what happens at trial.

Immigrant goes beserk and beheads fellow passenger. Turns out everyone who knew the guy knew he was a few candles short of a birthday cake.

Makes me wonder what other lowlife trash they're allowing into our country.

Apparently this lowlife also worked at Macdonald's.

I don't know what's worse. Having some dirty foreigner prepare my chicken nuggets. Or sitting next to one on the bus, knowing he could go into a homicidal rage any instant.

"..dirty foreigner..."???

Of course, a clean-living, hard working Canadian would be a better bus mate, don't you think? A man who lives on the land, knows how to get his hands dirty, right?

Where this guy is from has nothing at all to do with him just snapping. My parents are immigrants, are they dirty foreigners too? I'd like to see you say that to any immigrant who worked thier butt off to succed at their new life and see how well you make out.

Oh don't take it so personally. I'm an immigrant too. But I work, speak English and obey the law. Which is more than I can say for a lot of the riff-raff that have been immigrating here as of late.

I guess I kind of have to agree with you. Though I'm sure 99.9% of immigrants won't go on murderous rampages and chop unsupecting and innocent(as far as we know) people's head's off. It just seemed like you were painting pretty broad strokes with your first post.
