Does anyone know the torque specs for the front and rear brake caliper bolts for a 2002 F-250 7.3L 4WD? How necessary is it to get these numbers exact or simple "close enough" by feel? I am trying to avoid buying a $90 wrench if I can. Thanks!
With my 150 ft/lb torque wrench, I maxed it out. Then borrowed a mechanics at work and it was not far off the 162 ft/lb spec - like 159 or so. Like Kris said, you'll get close.
Sounds like the consensus is to go with "real tight" and not use a torque wrench, a little less on the slide pins. Thanks guys, you saved me $90 (or more).
caliper mounting bolts frt 42 rear 27 ft pounds and the big bolt on cal mt bracket on ft are 166 and rear 128 these are all Ft-lbs I never use these now just go by feel but this is spec for our trucks 99 to 04 might help
I'd spring for a torque wrench. I got mine for $80 I think and it is precise to 150 ft lbs... pay for a better one... I blew the case out of mine trying to do u joint work... that was a pos wrench i guess...
