finally I got to pull my car to the races and for some reason it started leaking tranny fuild from in between the tranny and dust cover is this a real serious problem or could it be just the front seal tranny does not leak when in normal ridig use
I think you overworked the tranny and the front seal leaked. My old '99 PSD had it's front seal let go and it wouldn't stop while others had it stop when the tranny cooled down. It's a $10 part but you have to drop the tranny to replace.

would you recommend just changing the front seal or would you upgrade the internals in the tranny since i'm going to be using the truck to pull my car to the racing every now and then

Depends on the size of your wallet. I had the seal replaced since I was on vacation in Wy heading to Yellowstone for a week. I since sold that truck and the first thing I bought for my '02 was a BTS tranny. So I guess I upgraded the tranny in a way. There are "new and improved" OEM seals that are used now that prevent from overheating.

the size of my wallet is pretty small but a friend recommend me to a place in San Antonio where he has his done and they told me they would upgrade torque converter, tranny cooler, value bodies, and clutches for like $2,000.00 is that alot or pretty decent priced

$2000 is about halfway towards a BTS but if this guy can: 1. rebuild a decent trans for the power of your PSD - it's a lot different than gasser trucks or cars, and 2. can stand behind his work even with the mods you want or have already.
Yes, a BTS or John Woods tranny's are proven units with proven track record and built for these trucks. Problem is, they are pricey.
Do you have anyone in the area that can give you some firsthand knowledge of this guys builds?

I'd just change the front seal. Unless you want to go thru the whole thing via BTS, I wouldn't bother. If you put a $1000 converter into it and the trans takes a dump, the only way to clean it is to cut the TC, clean it, reweld and rebalance. About $400+ the last time we did that.

BTS will stand behind the trans till he goes out of business or you and/or your truck die. No questions asked when it comes to rebuild. The only thing his written warranty really covers that it won't after the 2 yrs are up is the shipping. It is a given that the repair is free before or after 2 yrs are up.
