FWIW, I have the 05 EB with the 6.0 and love it. It has all the power I need and still gives a great ride. Granted I only have 17k on it but the little I do drive it I enjoy it.
The problems with the 6.0L are so well documented though, that while it may be wrong to say ALL 6.0L PSD's are bad, it has become apparent that finding a good one can be described as a crap shoot.
That's the main difference when compared to the 7.3L PSD's, when it comes to reliability and durability.
Plus, taking a page from your book, where you say a person can do a few things to make the 6.0 reliable, a person can do a few things to the 7.3 too, and they'd have a faster, more powerful rig when compared to the 6.0, plus (in my opinion), with the proven reliability, it will still outlast the 6.0!
I know it's not the model you want, but I will be selling my 00 at the end of August after I drop # 3 at college. With only one at home it's time for Dad to get the Early Bronco he's always wanted.
