Good moning,
Fellow dieselers, I have a vibration/shudder when pulling out, worse when turning. Does happen when pulling out without making a turn but have to be under a load or pulling out quickly. Only last for a brief second or so, but is worse when pulling out quickly.
Next question, any replacement rotor recommendations?
Thanks in advance for your evaluation and treatment recommendations.
As for brakes, you can go with stock replacements, or if you really want to upgrade, you can go with Powerslot rotors and Hawk pads. Those will stop your truck like nothing else.
Bone stock suspension with limited slip, may have a loose ball joint and/or tie rod ends that need replaced. Still handles and drives like a dream no vibrations @ highway speeds, occasional "clunks" on rough roads. (two season up here in AK, winter and road repair)
thanks
When the clutches in an auto tranny start to go, it'll shudder like that when you take off.
When's the last time you serviced the rear diff? The worse when turning seems to point to that, though I've never heard of a stock LSD shuddering, they just gradually stop working from what I've seen...
It's your rear end that's chattering. The vibrations during low speed cornering is what gives it away.
You can try draining out the old fluid and putting in some fresh stuff, along with some limited-slip additive. If the chattering goes away, then problem solved. If not, the clutches in the rear end might be worn.
How long have you owned the truck. If it just started doing it then I would look at the tranny then the rear end.
If it has done it since you got it and you have a two piece rear drive shaft, you may have too high of an angle in your center u-joint. You cab shim down the carrier bearing to stop the shuddering.
