I have a 93 F 350 Crew Cab, 4x4, 7.3 diesel, 4eod metric that I have just put in a new complete dash, before for I did the speedo worked and the tranny shifted, now the speedo does not work,( the tach does), and when I test drive it will not shift. If I pull the shifter down into 1st and start off then shift to 2nd you feel it shift the shift to 3rd and nothing. If you then punch it and the rpm's pick up it shifts to 3rd for a couple of seconds and then right beck to 2nd. Any ideas????
I have checked and rechecked all of the plugs and moduals behind the dash that had to be disconnected and they all appear to be plugged in.
Does anyone know what controls the shifting and the speedo so I can narrow my search?
Thanks one and all who respond!
The speedo takes it's reading from the speed sensor in the rear axle housing. The tranny electrical I don't know about except that maybe the wiring from the OD lockout button on the shifter got disconnected somehow.
I`m not good on electrical but as I understand it the signal from the speed sensor is sent to a module behind the speedo. This interprets the signal and sends it to the speedo and the trans. I would think if you put the old speedo back in everything would work.
