Nicely done. I wouldn't change a thing except a quick shifter of some sort so a miss wouldn't happen again. Come up with a way to hit the shifts and you'll golden. Run with it as is. You might have the perfect set up. Congrats.
Yea......that was SWEET. Now whatcha gonna do? 1st place eh? Blow it up soon so ya can de-stoke it Kris....then you can REALLY claim that 1st place Good job bro
funny you say that...That's part of the reason i actually entered it. I figured my truck wouldn't get pushed any harder (full drivetrain and all) that it would by pulling a sled. I want to destroke this mother so badly, i actually would have been relieved if my truck blew up this close to home.. but not my luck. I wanted to pull again and again if they'd let me, but i was the second to last truck to pull, by the time i took the hitch out and turned back up near the start, everyone was walking out, leaving. I would have been fine if i just knew how to shift from first to second, LOL. Kevin what tire pressures do you normally run on a loose track, care to tell?
Tim, i am running Toyo open country MT's, about 60% in the rear, 70% left in the front. I run them both around 55-60psi, but i took about 10 seconds of air out of the front. I have onboard air so it would be easy to air them back up before i left. Im defanitely getting some sort of traction bar to control axle wrap...
Oh, and the great thing about pulling in street diesel... All they asked you is the license plate number (make sure it's tagged), and that it's a diesel. Thats IT. Didn't look under the hood, under the truck, nothing. They wouldnt have known if i sprayed water or nitrous, had two turbos sitting under the hood, anything. I think next year is going to be very unfair for the competition
Nice! Congrats on first place. That single stack looked pretty good on that pull. I'd be curious how it would have done if you'd have started in 2nd, 4LO and just left it there.
Great pull Kris. Might I ask how many trucks you pulled against. Oh an BTW I would hate to meet any off you guys in a dark alley somewhere. Looks like pretty rough bunch around here. JK Good Luck Kris you got the pull fever. It never leaves it just gets worse. Oh an BTW what are the rules on hitch height where you guys are at? You other guys can chime in. Thanks
There were NO rules on hitch height, LOL that's how laid back and non organized it was. I tried using the 8" drop upside down with a clevis on it, but they said no, that was too tall.
Jeremy, you actually read my mind (don't we do that alot?) Just so i dont need to worry about shifting, Plus getting a smoother start by not changing gears, i could start out in 2, and just lock the TC when i get to 100 or so. I'll defanitely give that a try. Thanks on the tire pressures Kevin.
There were a total of 9 or 10 trucks in it. One bone stock 08 F-450 flatbed (pulled one foot less than me, he had air bag suspension), one third gen dodge, one second gen dodge that was very embarassing, a reg cab chevy (one of my buddies), two OBS 7.3s, one 6.0, and i believe one other 7.3.
Great pulling Kirs seems you have found you a new sport . I have been pondering about doing a pull this september when they open it up to all diesels (no classes) I don't stand a chance because the Black single stack Dodge that posted the highest numbers at Smokin will be there. It would be been pretty neat to see the 140 setting smoke show, really fill that single stack up .
