wow you did well for you first time kris great job nice rig to mate, we have the tractor pulls here in australia, ive been once early this year but i didnt notice any trucks in it. i dont think the sport is as big here as it is over there. most of the pullers were purpose built things (just a frame with heaps of engines joined together on them, oh and one bloke with a engine out of a spitfire or mustang war plane that was a site to see.
Well for the next time, at least i'll try to catch second gear. I honestly think that if i hadn't missed it, and kept up my momentum (exactly where i DONT want to lose it, before the weight hits), i could have drug it at least 20-30' farther before the weight hit. I could dick around with tire pressures a little, considering i lost traction and not power. (That could be good, not breaking parts). I took about 10 seconds of air out of my front tires but left the rear ones aired up to 55psi. I think next time i'll bring a gauge and put the rears at 35-40, and the fronts around 25.
Congrats on the great pull Kris. I went and watched a pull last night. There were 25 diesels in the street class, of which 4 were Cummins, 3 6.0's, 4 7.3's(2 each OBS and 99+), 1 IDI 7.3 and the remainder Duramax powered. The unlimited Diesel was dominated by Cummins powered Dodges, 7 trucks in the class and 5 were Dodge.
I need to get some traction bars fabbed up before September so I can pull with my truck.
Forgot to add, there were 2 broken trucks, one Dodge that seemed to have broke a trans 100 feet from the starting line and a GMC that now has a severe toe in problem from bent tierods.

That is why you have to love our solid front axles!!!
Kris,
Now all you need to do is get rid of those leveling springs so you can get your nose down
Hey Congrats buddy!
Its super addicting. Keep those pressures down for sure. I had my rears at 35 and should have had them lower. The fronts I had at 40. What tires are you running? I think the key is to have a tire that slips just enough to where when you get stopped by the sled. . . the tires will still spin. . . but to be just barely on that edge If that makes any sense.
