I have been working on a restoration of my two F-600's. One is a 64 and one is a 65 and I am trying to make one good truck with parts from both.I have completed work on the frame motor brakes and dump body. Now is the time to start work on the cabs and both are in horrible shape from Wisconsin winters. I was wondering what are my options. I was thinking about cutting out the bad cab sections and forming new steel but that sounds like a lot of work with marginal results. Does anyone think I could purchase parts that are available for F-100's and fit them into my F-600. They look same but I am not sure about the sizes. Another option would be a scrap yard in non road salt area if anyone has any ideas about who and where.
If I have read previous posts on this correctly, you will find the pickup cab and the F600 cab to match in almost all areas. F600s would have larger openings in the fenders, sometimes found on 4x4 pickups as well. Cab floors might have a different trans tunnel, but you can spot that from some distance. Glass, door innards etc would be the same. Numberdummy may be by and comment on this for you.
The cabs with the large cab step visible when the doors are open are basically the same: 1961/64 F100/1100; 1961/65 F100/250 4WD; 1965/66 F350/1100; 1966 F250 4WD
The door and cab glass, the doors internal parts are the same: 1961/66 F100/1100 & 1963/69 N/NT500/1000, 1967/69 F800/1000.
All the weatherstrips are the same for all these trucks and have been repro'd, but the repro parts sellers only list parts for F100/350.
I am starting a restore project on two F-600 trucks. One is a 1964 and the second is a 1965. My hope is to disassemble both trucks and make 1 good one out of the two of them.
I looking for resources to find information on these trucks. Does any body have any sugestions.
