I have read several times that you can take a non delay wiper option truck and turn it into a delay option just buy plugging in the wiper delay module. I found one on ebay and tried it and it works but the washers don't now and I think it's because I have one extra wire (white) that goes to nothing now. I hope this makes sense and someone has made this conversion so it can be explained to me.
I remember this exact problem being brought up not too long ago, but I can't remember the answer. It seems like it had something to do with the wrong year. I think NumberDummy knew the answer. If you try searching the forum you will probably find the answer; sorry that I couldn't be more exact.
there are two wires that are switched between the 80-86 switch and the 73-79 switch I found it by looking at the wiring diagramns between both styles but can't remember wich now cause it's been like 5 years since I did it but if you have a haynes for 73-79 you should be able to find it
does you stock wire loom have two plugs one with a few wires and one with just two wires that went into the stock non- emt switch? the large plug (4 or 5 wires) will only plug into the new switch/ box one way, but the smaller plug (2 wires) will plug in backwards and that is how it worked on my 77.5. Try turning the small one around and make sure it has a ground. If I remember right (been a long time) the washer wire is black with a green tracer?
