I e-mailed Ford the other day because they will provide research on older vehicles free of charge. I have had good luck doing that on 2 mustangs that I own. They seem to be having trouble with the truck though. I had posted this data plate info before:
Warranty # Color Model Body Trans Axle
F10AN872880 blank F100 D81 G 09
Ford is trying to tell me that it is not a custom cab when I am sure that it is. It has the custom cab dash and original doors with the custom cab logo. I figured with the special order DSO it would be a piece of cake for them, but apparently they are having trouble decoding their own codes. What I really wanted to know was the original paint scheme. Go figure.

Why bother Ford for this info...FTE has VIN decoders, there are several ppl here that can decode all the info, which comes straight from the parts catalog.
The BODY code when decoded tells whether the truck is a Custom Cab or not.
Your truck is a Custom Cab.

The reason was that I was hoping to find out the original color scheme since the color code was blank on my tag. I figured with the special order DSO it would have been easy for them. Apparently, they don't have records prior to '67, so I guess I am out of luck.
