Hi all, I'm New to the forum. I was in need of wiring for My 1976 F250 Highboy (vin, F26YLA12163) the guy that had it before me. shall I say was very creative. I need to change the whole thing. I've seen Bucks77 Pics and looks like he's doin' it himself, do any Manufactures repop it???? Or it off the the salvage yard.
I used a Centech Harness which is custom made for what you have. I ordered it with Ford Switches and easy to read diagrams. AFA a reproduction Ford Harness, you won't be able to find one that looks exactly what was original. Blue Oval Truck Parts also has a Ford Wiring Kit. You could also look into painless wiring. There are a few threads about this around here. I'll see if I can find them. A new Wiring Kit is fairly expensive, but then again, it's new wiring, so you don't have to worry about 30 plus year old wiring.
If you don't need NEW wiring, the best bet is a junkyard and pull everything and try not to cut any wires unless you have too. Just be careful what you look for. There are a few differences. Such as, do you have warning idiot lights or gauges? One will not interface with the other. If you find one that has gauges, you'll need the complete gauge bezel and vice versa. There are different steering column connectors too that has to do with the Neutral Safety Switch. On the 77-79 the NSS is mounted on the column and the older ones is on the transmission. (I think I have that right).
Thanks, I'm also doing a frame up restoration. I wish I had a shop like yours. I'm having to do my work outside.
Thanks Again for the info.
RW.
Well, it's my brothers mechanic shop down in Nebraska where I started my build. It was nice to work in it, but now i have the truck up here in MN in my small two car garage. It works. Outside wouldn't be too bad if you have nice weather throughout the year. I only get about 4-5 months of nice weather up here.
I see you don't have a gallery started yet. Do you have any pics of your build?
My name is Todd and I need some help with my 1977 F250 also. The guy I bought it from was a self-made engineer (school of jackassery). It is very, very um, jerryrigged. I went to the library and got a copy of a wiring schematic, but it seems I am missing a wire that would go from my positive solonois to the alternator. any ideas?

You may have it backwards or it's just not quite that simple because my NSS is on my steering column, topside, inside the cab.
