"Trailer Diconnected" Message

2005 F350 w/factory TBC. Recently started getting a "trailer disconnected" error. Not towing anything. Comes and goes, hit reset goes away only to come back again. Very intermitant, some days it won't do it at all and others it will continuly give the message. Haven't towed a trailer in months. ???

Maybe a short in the wiring harness - is the trailer plug corroded or wiring frayed?

The plug is not corroded and the wiring is fine. It seems as though there is a short somewhere. No trailer connected but it is telling me 'trailer disconnected."

2 things. do you have a add on 7 pin connector in the bed. or have you launched a boat lately?
