I'm changing my rear diff fluid. Is the Limited Slip Axle Concentrate the same stuff as friction modifier? Got a bottle layin around and don't wanna waste a trip into town if this is the right stuff.
Also another quick question. Just use RTV silicone to seal the diff cover correct? Is the red high temp rtv good for this or is there a special one just for the purpose?
The bottle says "Limited Slip Axle Concentrate" on the front and on the back description it says can be used as friction modifier.
Whats the best way to add the fluid without makin a mess everywhere?
Ahhh, I was lookin on the diff cover for fill plug. Bout 4 quarts she holds?
Yep, about 4 quarts. You can fill it through the RABS sensor hole too, on the top of the 'chunk'....just in case you have something in the way of the normal fill plug.
The whole bottle...even though the 75w140 syn come with it.....That ain't enough, the Posi clutches will chatter later on down the road. You do have posi....right? if not you don't need it at all.
I don't use friction modifier at all. The limited slip works without it and basically turns it into a peg leg with it. I like a little rear end chatter on a sharp turn, lets me know the diff is working.
If you remove the side plug and the diff sensor you can fill through the top hole and when it runs out the side hole it's full. No need to measure the amount that way.
