I have an 04 truck and there is a whining sound coming from the rear end when I let up on the gas at about 65 mph. At around 60 (still decellerating) it quits. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it just typical overdrive noise?
Sounds like the typical axle whine on the 04s. R u the original owner? Has any of the tsb's been done on the truck? Depending on your mileage, you may want to change your axle lube.
Yea, it's one of the normal things for the 04s. Shudder is another big axle problem on these trucks. About the only fix for the axle whine is to get another ring and pinion gearset. Unless, something shifted in the houseing and they can rebuild the current one. It's hit or miss unless you get someone that really knows how to build axles. Good luck with it.
