I have donbe everything I can think of to get the lock barrel out of the ignition switch on my '73 F-100. The book says put the key in, then put a stiff wire through the little hole near the key, press down on the wire and turn the key to ACC, and the barrel will pull out. No way! All that happens is the wire gets bent and jams on the key. I know this has had to happen to some of you...so what did you do? I suppose I could change the whole thing, but the lock works fine and I don't want to have to carry two different keys! Thanks, Polkat.
Trust me on this one, but don't ask me how I know. I don't care if you think you know what you're doing but if you do not first disconnect the battery and you turn the tumbler once to the left past accessory, to facilitate removal, you will burn some ***** up. Again trust me on this one!
