For those who are currently running the LTX AT2, are you happy with them? I'm about to have my local tire shop order me a set and just wanted something more then Tire Rack's reviews.
I have em andhave had no issueswith them. They handle well on wet roads and are goodforlight off-roading. I have been throughsome nasty mud and had no issue. I have the 20s.
Just got them yesterday, all I can say is what a difference ! They totally out perform the Wranglers I previously had. They are so quiet, and they handle very well on wet roads... got to try them out in a major downpour yesterday. I got the 16s... very happy... I'm sold on Michelin tires.
Thanks for the feedback. After talking with my tire shops owner, who has the AT2's on his GMC Crew diesel. I decided not to go with the Michelin. His experience wasn't as good as expected. On his truck, they tend to wander or wallow and didn't perform all that well in last years record breaking snows. I ended up with a set of Cooper Discoverer ATR LT275/70-18's. So far a great tire for a boat load of money less.
has anyone had experience with these Michelins in comparison to PIRELLI Scorpions?
My truck was delivered with 20" PIRELLIs and am considering changing to MICHELIN when they wear out. Which is better?

Two thumbs up for your choice of the Coopers
Michelins are excellent tires although there are several downsides: Expensive, soft riding (too soft for me) and the AT2 has gotten some bad reviews in regard to poor wear, especially on heavier/diesel vehicles. Cooper has emerged as a top quality American tire manufacturer and the ATR is a great tire!
In regard to Pirelli vs Michelins: Michelin is probably considered a better tire although FWIW the OP did research and decided against them-
for those with complaints about soft ride while towing, I'm thinking they have to be talking about the P rated tire. The LT Michelin tires ride as stiff as any other LT tire...although I think the LTX AT2 only comes in a P rating
AT2's are available in both P metric and LT tires. I think Michelin offers the smoothest ride, something that can be percieved to be a softer ride. Personally, I wish Michelin still offered the old LTX AT and in our sizes. The rode great (firm) but wore like granite. Heck, you didn't have to rotate them or pay much attention to them, to get 95K out of them... Oh well...
The AT2 do come in the LT rating. I just purchased LT245s 16 inch last week... I believe they are 10 ply. I had a load of 3/4 stone to deliver on the weekend and they are very firm tires. I really liked them.
