Castrol GTX is what I use, but any oil these days is great. SL rated oils can't be bad.

My father bought a new Coupe De Ville for my Mom every 2 years beginning in the early 60s. When it was delivered..He had the oil changed to Valvoline..and Firestone tires installed...Works for me.........

I just buy whatever is on sale. I've never noticed a difference between brands.

Do you guys know about bitog?

Bobistheoilguy.com? Bob Is The Oil Guy - Powered by Motor Oil

Go to the UOA section for gasoline engines and people send in oil to have it analyzed to compare wear results.

Castrol GTX has shown better results than all the other conventional oils I've seen on there. Correct me if I missed one or two, but I will say this. You will NOT go wrong with Castrol GTX 10W-30.

No, I'm not supporting them. You can't go wrong with any of them, but GTX shows EXCEPTIONAL results... and if I remember correctly, matches up to the protection of most synthetic oils. I use it and dog the hell out of my vehicles sometimes and have no problems....

But just because your engine doesn't make a noise doesn't mean that you are getting excessive iron or copper wear that won't show up until a few years down the road.

I haven't used anything but Castrol GTX in any of my vehicles for the last 33 years. Wouldn't use anything else. I didn't have any test results, just felt like it was doing a great job for me. Now I see that my instincts were right. (For whatever that's worth.)

My dad used to be a fleet mechanic & has changed over to Havoline for every 'new' vehicle the Company bought & sometimes Havoline 10w-30 has even decreased oil consumption on some vehicles, so I always use Havoline 10W-30,summer & winter.

The last time I checked with the local dealer Havoline (Texaco) was making Motorcraft oil. I have no idea who makes their filters.

Let's see, I'd say I have bought house brand oil for 35 years. Saved alot of money and had no ill effects. Save your money and do something good with it.
