Sounds more like a hose than the pump itself, if happened all of a sudden. The reservoir and fitting are sealed with O-rings. These O-rings and the shaft seal can develop leaks, but are usually slow and would not "spray" oil as you described. The pump shaft seal could throw oil if the pump itself was toast. If the pump is kept full, it should be OK. Run too long, too low could wipe it out. Just do as Dan described and you should find the leak.

Scott,

First, let me qualify this with saying I have never had to replace the pressure hose on my SuperDuty's hydraulic pump, so this isn't first-hand knowledge. Take it with "a grain..."

I believe the hoses have an o-ring as part of the sealing for the hose end. You can apparently over-tighten the fitting and cut that o-ring, and it will continue to leak, so there may be a torque spec.

Again, this is all hearsay as far as my input on this goes.

I'm just hoping to jog the memory of someone with ACTUAL KNOWLEDGE.

My service DVD shows a teflon seal over the nut that goes into the fitting in the pump. It looks like the other end of the hose has an O-ring. Looks like on mine, the line can swivel in the connector at the hydraboost. The nuts are the only things that tighen and the line would still move inside.

It's fixed. It was two things.

The pump was leaking fluid from the front, where the shaft comes out. That was the main leak. The lower hose (big one) had a small leak at the fitting. It (pump leak)was so bad this morning that I parked it and caught a ride to work. My neighbor called me at work and asked what the problem was and I told him. He then offered to swap it out as he is retired and has nothing to do during the day. I took him up on his offer and it was done when I got home from work. He even cleaned all of the goo off. He didn't want it but I made him take 50 bucks. I wish I could rep him.

Truck drives and sounds great.

He's a great guy. He helped me with my hubs when I did those not too long ago. He's a retired crane operator and heavy equipment mechanic and I trust him completely to work on the truck. His wife died about a month ago and he's lonely and needs things to fill his day. When I tried to give him the money he kept saying, "No, I had fun doing this and I needed it" but I still managed to make him take the money.

Not too long ago the flue pipe for my fireplace blew off of the top of the house during a bad thunderstorm in the night. When I was leaving to go to work I found it in the middle of the street. I pulled it up into my driveway and went on to work. My plan was to fix it when I got home. Didn't have to. When I got home he had already hoisted it back up onto the roof and re-secured it. It has never blown off since. He's the best neighbor and friend anyone could ask for.
