The remotes for my door locks quit suddenly. The locks work, so it is not that fuse, but I have not been able to locate the offender. I would suspect either a fuse or a bad connector. Anyone have a similar experience or expertise in this area? Where is the receiver for the remotes? My Excursion is a 2002 Limited Ultra.
Since both fobs quit at the same time, I suspect it is the reciever, not the transmitter. Thanks for the input, I will replace one battery and see what happens.
Check to make sure that your battery posts are tite.. Had that happen and some of the locks would work and others wouldn't.. Then the rear windows quit working..ETc..You never know whats gonna happen with loose connections..One time, mine wouldn't go into reverse.. Yes it's a weird situation..The connectors may not always be loose,it may be a build-up of corrosion.. I have never had a vehicle before that the connectors were this sensitive..I automatically check them every couple of weeks..
I pulled fuse #19 and inspected it. It was good so I reinstalled it in the fuse panel. Remotes started working. Not sure if the fuse posts were corroded or if the system just needed rebooting.
Did you use both key fobs regularly? One could have died, and the other has been sitting and it went dead as well. My battaries are getting weak and sometimes it just completely stops working. They always work again after letting the remote sit for a lil bit. Might have had the button pressed somehow in my pocket and didnt know. I'd say deffinatly try a new battery if the fuses are fine.
