I own a 2000 F-250, 7.3 auto crew cab with 127000 miles, my problem is after warm up and placing the truck in reverse the engine begins to shutter and almost stalls. If on a hill the truck does stall. the warmer the truck is the worse the condition. Help !!!!
First off: Welcome to FTE!!! Glad to have you aboard!
Now... Its not a matter of the warmer the engine gets the worse it is. It's a mater of the warmer the tranny gets the worse it is... Tall tail sign of a tranny going south. Reverse seems to be the first to show problems. Do a fluid flush pay attn. to the color of the old fluid and if it smells burnt. Make sure you put the right fluid back in. Unfortunately enough I have seen this help with making the tranny last longer and I have seen it do them in... The pump in your tranny is probably going out and its making your motor bog down... Someone els will be along with better info. Good Luck, and please keep us posted.
I'd have it inspected as soon as possible. I think the cause of my problems started as a bad shif solenoid and ended in a broken trans. It would have costed a lot less to have had it inspected when it started to go bad.
I've had a similar reverse problem in the past, and it turned out the pump was bad. Reverse uses more fluid flow than any other gear, so if there's a fluid problem, like flow with the pump going bad or something else, reverse will be the first to show it.
