Hi
I recently bought a 96 F-250 powerstroke 2wd. Before i bought it the owner said the truck stalls when you put it into reverse and give it gas right away it stalls. She said you have to wait a couple seconds. When I test drove it, I did that and it was totally fine.
A couple days after I had it and drove it around, I put it into reverse and the engine made a bogging down sound and was about to stall. When i continued in reverse it was chugging, then started to make a grinding noise from the trans. Put it park then in reverse again and it was fine. I did the reverse procedure again and then it stalled.
It seems to be worse when the truck is fully warmed up and been driving for a while. When it is cold, the reverse doesn't do this.
HELP!! What could the problem be? Thanks for any input
heres the problem the truck works great in all forward gears if u idle it in reverse it will move if you gas it it feels like the brake shoes are locking up and the engine bogs way down any ideas oh and by the way its not the breaks thanks ed

Your problem sounds like the converter lockup clutch is locking the converter when it shouldn`t.
Have a read through the above.
