What would it take to build a 460 to run on e85?

It is carbed. I heard it was just hard on seals and gas hose. So if I use all steel line and maybe do some jetting will it work alright?

E85 is basically just Alcohol. But setting up a 460 to run on it I am not sure it would pay for itself. Fuel mileage with E85 will be reduced a few miles per gallon. I don't know about you but my 460 dosen't get that good that loosing any would be positive, or cost effective.

to really made E85 work good on a carbed engine you need to build the engine specifically to take advantage of it's properties. Also especially on a carberated engine you really can't set it up to run on E85 and regular gas both basically one or the other.
to run it at all you would need a carb that is setup for alky (the bowls are hard anodized to prevent corrosion, and things like the floats are alky resistant and they use viton for the stuff like the needle and seat points and other seals) you would also need to run Viton, or other synthetic fuel line like teflon or run steel (not really recommended) or hard anodized solid alum line, and your fuel pump and tanks must also also be alky reistant with viton seals etc.
As to the motor you would want to build it with higher compression to take advantage of the 105 octane and you could do some custom cam work to up the dynamic compression and increase the HP levels a little and maybe negate some of the loss of mileage from the reduced BTU's

OK so how about setting an EFI up to run on E-85?
