Yeah I told Jon when I was at the tech seminar after he introduced those heads I wanted on that list for 1 of the first 100 sets not sure where I am on it though. But 808hp on a 521 on pump gas is nice wonder what I will do with a Boss 572 LOL
yeah i called Jon and told him "IF" they were within reason? I'd pick up a set.. But thats Not counting as our converstion "rockers" springs..Cups , etc..
But i did hear he's planning on a "crate motor" for around the 20K to 25K mark...now I havent alked to him abouy that so it Maybe BS ??
supposedly that crate motor number came from Cliff and if so I would say it's as rock solid as if Jon himself told you.
Now I hear Jon is at the Bash so really wish I had gone since if he has any sets of those heads done they will be down there (he waited on announcing them until the tech seminar so he might wait to release them until this weekend giving those of us on that forum a chance) plus would love to see if he brought that mustang down too.
I have already told the wife that if his price complete is under a set amount I gave her I WILL be breaking out the credit card and they WILL be sitting in my shop shortly there after.
OK Rob...guitar man is asking for your vote I just read....
yeah Jons Pretty cool about that giving us in the room first chance at what he has to offer... It also Might come from all the input too that Jon asked of us a few years ago pertaining to his book? But Jons Just a down right good Ol boy like most of us are but with deeper pockets..LOL
Yeah Like you me too ..I would have loved to seen the maiden run of the Hemi stang!! what a sleeper it is!!!
Oh by the way josh Guitar...How many git fiddles do you own??? I have a Grandson thats interested in playing... I was kind of looking for a Takakmine Rounded box/electric..or similar....used ..But I'am not gonna give him my Les Paul copy !! LOL..
Now I need to have Glenns Son Dan work on the head keys...(FFR428) on this site..as I have a sropped out tuning key....
Josh keep your current truck that is currently running and buy a core 429/460 and build it the way you want. that is my vote. Then we can give you all kinds of ways to spend any and all extra money you might think you can afford and then spend some more too.
Russ your right Jon is a regular guy, I had the oppurtunity to sit down with him, Dave MacClain (who I had met at the block summit a couple years ago) and one of the other guys off the board. He is REALLY into WWII airplanes and in fact is involved with the confederate air force (they fly rebuilt WWII plains). As to the deeper pockets, yeah sorta but like he said the reason for coming out with these new heads was because in HS he always wanted a Boss 9 mustang but as he put it, he was closer to being able to afford one then, then he is now.
Of coarse his other comment was he can't afford one of his own engines LOL
Rob, I'd like to have been there this year to see and watch Jon's new Stang....I know he's at the Hollow, But I havent heard yet if the 08 Boss9 Stang made it or not? I was just reading Carlie's post about the Bowles/ Roush R&D Stang that has the Rev Limiter set on 10, 000 RPM's and Charlie said they were bouncing it off the limiter really hard at the starting line!!! Geeezus... I guess its a big secret as to what the motor is??

I have 12.
Taks are fine instruments and not to expensive to boot! I'd like to have one but I don't play much acoustic (only after darkto avoid pissing off neighbors or when I don't feel like goin out to the studio where all the amps are.)
yeah it will do great, I may be one of if not the biggest proponent of 385 series engine on this site but I have also owned a bunch of 390s and there is nothing wrong with them at all. In fact until I can get the new one built I am putting a 390 into my current project and expect it to run pretty darn good.
Then you can take the time to build a 460 based engine right and really make it a screamer. JMHO

I'm starting to like that idea! That way I can get it done right (forged internals etc.) I just have to find a decent 460 around town.
Well Just do some research at your local pick a part or pull a part or whatever they call em in taxas nowdays....
But if youe plan is going to an all forged rotatating assy....All you need is a good block with the main caps still on it to start with....and after your short block is built... Start saving for the heads and intake etc.. and work it from there..
All they 460 guys I know..the only thing on the build that "Maybe" Ford is if the useing a 466 .030" over stock block! and a few a little bigger with a stroker crank in them...
