Ok so I am putting headers on my truck and this place that I am buying them from has Ceramic Coated and Titanium headers. Which ones should I pick? Whats the difference between them and the benefits of each?
Seems to me that ceramic headers would dump a lot more heat out the exhaust and keep the motor running a little cooler. Ceramic can reflect and metric ton of heat. Might be a slight drawback though as your exhaust temp would rise, not that it matters a whole heck of a lot if it's routed properly. I wouldn't know for sure though.
Thanks for the response. Sounds good. I am going to buy the headers next week so if anyone has anything else I am open to any knowledge about this issue.
JBA offers two coating options, a base polished silver ceramic that is good to 1500°F + and a high heat coating good to 1600°F+ that they call their High Heat Titanium. No, there is no titanium in the coating. The name stuck because of the color of the header, which I liken more to the color of a battleship.
In most all but the most extreme case, the polished silver ceramic coating is the best choice for your vehicle. It definitely looks the best! You would need to use the High Heat Titanium coating on those applications that are heavily supercharged, heavy towing, and any engines with very high EGT's (exhaust gas temperatures). You will notice that some of the JBA headers are only available in the high heat coating, such as late model Ford trucks. This is due to their high normal exhaust temperatures.

Make sure you get good quality headers that is ceramic coated like the above mentioned JBA's. Don't do what I did a ceramic coat a cheap quality set like the Flow Techs I had which ended up busting a weld anyways.
That was exactly the information that I was looking for. I have been looking at the JBA Ceramic coated headers or the BBK ceramic coated headers but I think now I will pay the extra hundred bucks and get the JBA ones that I originally found. Thanks for all of the info.
