tail light screws?

My priorities are a little out of whack but I'm surprised I haven't been able to find a source for those fluted screws for our tail lights. Does anyone know where I can find these?

are you talking about the styleside type lenses...if so, my guess is those would be the same up through 79 as the lense is of similar depth in the bedside.

Yep, '65 Styleside. I've been keeping my out for older Fords in the local pick n' pull but nothing so far. There's probably a drawer full at the local Ford dealer...

Here are few links for fastener hardware. I am only familiar with 'restoration specialies' and not the others. Reassembled 65 F100 and found they had many of the hard to comeby hardware; fender bolts, j nuts, u nuts, tube nuts, screws, bolts, etc., and very helpful staff as well. You may be able to find many of the fasteners needed at a good hardware, parts supplier, or auto body shop. Had to resort to online source because a well supplied hardware store, parts supplier, or body shop are far and few between in my area; although, must admit, local Napa parts supplier was able to help many of the parts I needed, and a little with fasteners.

The screws are sholdered to prevent the lens from being overtightened.

There should still be a good stock of NOS out there.

Bill can you post a part number by body type, 66 81 ect....

Thanks for the replies--- they shouldn't be hard to find, a Ford part # would certainly be appreciated!

The 64-6 styleside screw p/n is 378374S...none to be found...this screw is also used on 67-72 w/o trim
The screw w/trim on 67-72 is 376362S...none to be found

I was unable to find a p/n for the screws used on later Broncos.

...this screw is also used on 67-72 w/o trim WITH and without-same thing.

The screw w/trim on 67-72 is 376362S...none to be found Because there ain't no such part number in the text, all 1965/72's use the same ones.

I was unable to find a p/n for the screws used on later Broncos .Because you weren't looking in the right place. Try here for example: 1973/79 car catalog = Section 137
page 27.

PARTS CATALOG LESSON #1.

Do not go by hardware numbers in illustrations, cuz they may not be complete. You need to go to the text to confirm.

The text usually lists the description and the size.

For example...waltz over here:

Section 134, page 9: 374378S100 .. Screw, Phillips Head: #8 -18 x 1.12"

Fits: 1965/66 F100/250 Stylesides / 1967/72 F100/350 Stylesides / 1966/77 Bronco

These screws are prolly available at most autoparts stores.

Fellow members: cs65 knows I'm not picking on him. Just a little parts catalog help for the next time he needs to look up standard parts (hardware).

Bill,

Many thanks-- I knew those screws had to be out there. Dumb question (I'm new to Fords and these trucks) but does this number refer to a Ford part number exclusively?

Yes, but any parts store should have them or something very close...taillight screws were used on most cars/trucks from day one thru the 1970's.

It's also a possibility that a local dealer might have them...especially if they've been there awhile.

Most dealers don't throw away hardware...most isn't carried on the parts inventory, so the parts might lie in a drawer for years.

Scheiss on a stick! I just noticed...I listed the WRONG part number...I reversed the numbers sequence.

Correct: 378374S100

Looks like I need to take a refresher course in Parts Catalog Reading 101.

Ya, I know full well Bill isnt picking on me so dont give him any guff for it...
As for the later model screws...I did look in both text and illustration...I found one number ..but the pic I saw showed the screw head being as if it were behind the t/light bezel...that sucker drove me nuts and after about an hour of hunting I needed a break from the computer...eyes were getting to me...
As for the 67-72 and 64-6 type differences those are what I got off of the illus. book.
its funny how much work one blessed screw can make :-) I just wish it werent so well hidden ...

Either way its a good lesson in reading and I appreciate Bill correcting me..one can never be too old or young to learn new things..especially from one with 35 yrs experience behind the counter

To find those screws, look under the taillight lens (13450) section in the text.

Parklight lens screws: look under the parklight lens #13208 (376328S)

Remember when typing part numbers into Green's website (or wherever), remove any spaces or hyphens.

Also make sure when you type standard part numbers, that you type this: 0, instead of that: O.
