weird question I know. But does anyone know the exact size/thread of the screw that holds the tail light. I had a 2000 van that came with 2 different special kind of screws. I loved it because it was not the regular screw. Reason i'm asking is because I have the led tail lights, and would love to change the screw so wont be so easy for someone to steal them
Are you talking about tamper-proof Torx headed screws---those with the little dimple in the center of the bit recess?
Because there are u-nuts mounted on the body forming the female thread almost any suitable diameter and length of that type screw could be used. Quck crude measurement shows they're #10 pan head #15 Torx drive, about 35mm or 1 3/4" long; 1 5/8" would work just as well---nothing shorter though.
Make sure to use stainless steel, perhaps a bit of anti-seize on the threads to ease removal down the road.
Not sure how big an issue tail light theft is and most any good thief would carry every tool needed to steal something---at best you'll slow them down a second or two.
