I have not used a P3 yet...but in looking at the front panel of the unit...it appears to use more of a digital interface (push buttons and menus) vs the analog thumb **** on Prodigy...so if I had to venture a guess...I would say the P3 looks like it would need to be reset if disconnected...but someone with actual hands on use should probably answer...

If it does indeed need reset though...I'd suggest simply writing down the settings on a small piece of paper and putting that in the glove box for that just in case need...I'm sure entering the data isn't that complicated based on the literature I've seen on line.

Joe.

Gracias amigo. You are ok, about that entering the data isn´t complicated.

The regular prodigy remembers its settings, digital and analog. The P3 I hazard a guess is the same, although I haven't found an RV store yet that suggests you purchase the P3. Extra cash, harder to program, difficult to change while driving... not a good combination! Stick to the standard Prodigy unless you are towing a trailer with electric over hydrolic brakes

Well, thanks for the advice, but I already have the P3

RV stores won't recommend it because of the reasons I posted earlier.

It will likely draw a small current to keep it's memory alive, just like a radio/disc player.

I have ZERO experience with the P3, but it is probably a lot more capable.

We should open a thread just on THAT controller.
