My BIL just called, and his Astro just died. He says he heard a click and it just shut off, so I'm thinking the fuel pump relay went out. It cranks, and there's no fuel smell.
Does anybody know where the fuel pump relay be at on this truck? I can't find anything online about it.
Last time I did a "just died" it was a fuel filter. Think it was near the right rear wheel. Been so long since I wired an Astro I forget the specs. I do know someone that had theirs burnt to the ground by some moron pouring gas down the tbi when it did not start. I did not realized the side doors were fiberglass
Check the alternator for power from the battery and ign. My experience is the problems run backwards and the fusible links on the starter have melted (caught on fire) and that generally takes out more then one system.
Found out my BIL is more car-dumb than I thought- It had bad plug wires, according to the shop he had it towed to. $400 later, and it's back on the road.
The fuel pump relay is in the DSF of the engine compt. The AC relay is the same, right beside it too. Most likely bad fuel pump, their is a oil pressure switch on the engine too. I belive after 15psi it sends power to the fuel pump.
