Hey guys. I've searched a bit and am not turning up much info. I've ran across a post mentioning that the hydroboost out of a chevy astro van would swap almost directly. I went ahead and grabbed one today out of the junk yard but didn't have time to grab the hoses for it. Has anyone done a hydroboost swap with a unit from an astro van?
I want to do this mod myself. I thought you just used the F350 setup from this year truck. I know the astro setup is popular in the bronco crowd. Look around those boards for info on the system.
Nope. LKQ in Daytona here has a powerstroke (or at least it had one when it came in) f-350 and the first thing I started to think about was hydroboost. May go back tomorrow and if I do, I'll get pictures that show the vacuum booster in it. Needless to say I was kinda disappointed because I thought I was about to score.
use the proper system for the hd trucks guys.your adding hydroboost primarily for increased safety.don't skimp.use the f-super duty/450 system.it's all direct bolt in.perhaps a little modding if you keep an aluminum 250/350 master, but that's about it.
Go figure. I did some more digging and it seems the hydrobooster was an option on f-350's with a diesel. Will be going back tomorrow for the hoses and the reservoir.
not that i know of.as far as i know (pre 99 SD era) the only hydroboost option for the f-series was the f-super duty (f450) and all of those 8th and 9th gen's got hydroboost, despite being a 460 or a diesel truck.
none of the hd platform pickup (250/350) nor the 350 cab n chassis received hydroboost, despite engine size or type.
not to say you can't find a pickup with hyrdro in a salvage yard of course, but it wouldn't have been factory.
