anyway, i was just wondering how many miles are you guys getting out of your tanks of gas. my invoice says i have a 29 gallon tank however it says i am out of gas and when i fill it up the most i have ever put in it is 26, so where are my other four gallons of gas and why does my truck say it is empty. i have a 2001 ford superduty lariat crewcab 4x4 reg bed. i am only getting about 220 miles to a tank with out towing and it says i need to fill up whats up with that.
Have you still got stock tires or did you go a size larger like most folks do with the 4WD's?
There could be a few other things, like plugs, filters, MAF sensor, etc, that needs attention. If you're only getting 8 1/2 MPG on an empty truck, there's something wrong, in my opinion.
it does have a k&n but it is just a drop in. i am running 305 size tires on stock wheels. my onboard computer and my calculations say that i am right at 10mpg average. that is a combination of highway/city. i just think that maybe my gas guage is wrong or something. i guess i should run it until it dies and then seen what happens when i fill it up. what do you think.
hi, with 305 tires you are going more than a mile for the mile on the odometer. you will not be able to use the whole 29 gal tank , just can't get it all out . besdes do you like to walk?? bseg barry

no, dont like to walk. but i would think that having four gallens left in the tank is a bit much, what do you think. my original question was i was curious how many miles per tank are some of the other V10 guys getting. just curious. i just cleaned out my air filter and MAF this morining along with a new fuel filter. will see if that helps in any way.
Mine takes about 25-26 gallons, depending on how empty I run it.
There is a vent tube that sticks down into the tank that keeps you from filling it all the way up. So there's always some space at the top of the tank, probably to keep the evaporative emissions stuff happy.
You need SOME gas surrounding the fuel pump to keep it cool - otherwise it will die quicker than expected.
